This palace is none other than the remarkable Jag Island Palace, also known as Jagmandir, situated on the southern side of the lake. Its reputation as the “Lake Garden Palace” precedes it, attracting numerous visitors to its majestic halls.The construction of Jagmandir was a labour of love undertaken by three successive Maharanas of the illustrious Sisodias that were part of the Mewar kingdom. Its first stone was laid down in 1551 by Maharana Amar Singh and was continued by his son Maharana Karan Singh from 1620 to 1628. Finally, it was the great Maharana Jagat Singh I who completed the marvellous palace during his reign from 1628 to 1652, lending to it being named Jagat Mandir.
